Hotel Astoria sits at the heart of Canazei, one of the Alps' most celebrated ski villages. Step outside and the Dolomites are waiting. The only question is where to start.
Canazei is one of the great ski villages of the Italian Alps and Hotel Astoria is right at the centre of it. But while the location is exceptional, it's what's behind the front door that keeps guests coming back winter after winter.
Hotel Astoria is the kind of place that gets everything right. The rooms are warm and beautifully appointed, designed for the kind of deep, restorative sleep that only a day in the mountain air can justify. The food is generous, unhurried and unmistakably Italian, the sort of evening meal you find yourself thinking about on the chairlift all afternoon. And the welcome? Genuine, warm and personal in a way that bigger hotels rarely manage.
There's a comfort here that goes beyond the physical. The staff know their guests, the atmosphere is relaxed and convivial, and by day two it already feels less like a hotel and more like a very elegant home in the Dolomites.
The Sellaronda circuit and over 1,200km of Dolomiti Superski pistes are right outside the door, of course. But as any returning guest will tell you, the hardest part of a stay at Hotel Astoria isn't choosing which slopes to ski. It's finding the motivation to leave the hotel in the first place.
This property is offered on a Half Board basis.

Hotel Astoria is perfectly positioned in the heart of Canazei, just 750 metres from the Cabinovia Belvedere — the main gondola that whisks you up into the Dolomiti Superski network and the legendary Sellaronda circuit. The village centre, with its restaurants, bars and shops, is a leisurely 10-minute walk away, and for those who prefer to leave the boots on, the nearest bus stop is just 100 metres from the hotel, connecting you effortlessly to the wider Val di Fassa ski area. Everything you need for the perfect ski holiday is within easy reach.
Born and raised in the area of Franciacorta, I grew up surrounded by the glorious landscapes and vineyards, for which the area is well-known. Other than harvesting grapes for the production of my family’s own wine, some of my fondest childhood memories come from spending time at Lake Garda. Whether it’s cycling, climbing or windsurfing, I just can’t get enough of the activities around Lake Garda. At the end of the day, you’ll always find me in a lakeside café, admiring the views and sipping an Aperol Spritz in the sunshine. That to me, is paradise.
